SEWING PATTERN SIZE CHART

BODY MEASUREMENTS (INCHES)

BODY MEASUREMENTS (CM)

HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements and compare them to the chart. You can either choose the size that comes closest to your measurements, or trace the pattern by combining sizes for the bust, waist and hips.

The "golden" rule in sewing is to choose the pattern size according to your biggest width, so for example if your bust size is EU 38 and hips EU 36, you would choose size EU 38. The idea is that you would then alter the garment from hips to make it fit better.

Besides this size chart, pay also attention to the finished garment measurements that come with the pattern. Each garment has its own design ease, which determines the silhouette of that particular garment: close-fitting, semi-fitted or loose. Some designs are fitted around the bust but have a wider skirt. So, if for example your bust is EU 38 and hips EU 40, you can choose size EU 38, as the additional design ease of the skirt would leave enough of room for the hips.

BUST: Measure your chest at the fullest point over your bra, with the measuring tape held horizontally.

WAIST: Measure your waist horizontally around the waistline at its narrowest point. This is usually at about the level of the belly button.

HIPS: Measure your hips at the fullest part, with the measuring tape held horizontally.

The patterns are designed for a height of 168 cm (5′ 6″).
